USF NEWS

Audience:

External media outlets; current and prospective students and their families; current and prospective faculty and staff; alumni; donors; community leaders; and other friends of the university.

Purpose:

The USF News Web site serves as the primary source of university news and information.

Content:

Major, big-picture news articles produced by professional news writers in the Office of University Communications and Marketing.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit content for USF News, please note the following guidelines.

  • Open a new document in Word.
  • Craft your story in Arial, 10 point, with 1.15 line spacing.
  • Do not include bullets or special characters.
  • Insert all hyperlinks.
  • Save your document.
  • Email your document as an attachment to the USF News contact for your college or division.

INSIDE USF

Audience:

USF System faculty and staff.

Purpose:

The Inside USF Web page and its accompanying weekly e-newsletter serve as the primary source of news and information for all university employees. Inside USF is published every Thursday.

Content:

Need-to-know employee information from the university's senior administrative offices, to include the President; the Provost; Business and Finance; Human Resources; Public Safety; Research and Innovation; Advancement; Student Affairs; University Communications and Marketing; and Information Technology.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit content for USF News, please note the following guidelines.

  • Open a new document in Word.
  • Craft your story in Arial, 10 point, with 1.15 line spacing.
  • Do not include bullets or special characters.
  • Do not insert hyperlinks. Instead, type the URL after the text you want linked.
  • Save your document.
  • Email your document as an attachment to Gina D'Alessio.
  • All submissions are due Tuesday at 5 p.m., two days prior to publication.

NEWS FROM THE COLLEGES

Audience:

Current and prospective faculty, staff and students.

Purpose:

The News from the Colleges Web page serves as a round-up of news and information from the colleges.

Content:

Faculty and staff research initiatives, findings and grants; faculty publishing, conference attendance and presentations; academic awards and scholarships; professional organization accolades; other relevant faculty, staff, student or alumni news from the colleges.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit content for News from the Colleges, please visit the News from the Colleges page, locate your college, and click Submit Content.


USF MAGAZINE

Audience:

Community leaders; alumni; donors; faculty and staff; and other friends of the university.

Purpose:

USF Magazine features stories that raise the university’s profile by demonstrating a tangible impact on the local, national and international community.

Content:

Stories about research and innovation; student success; community engagement; global reach; national awards and recognition; new programs, initiatives and facilities; athletics; and fundraising.

Submission Guidelines:

To suggest content for USF Magazine, email Anne Scott.


USF CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Audience:

Current USF students, alumni, Tampa community, prospective students, faculty, staff, parents of USF students and friends of the university.

Purpose:

To promote major USF-sponsored events that are open to the public, and to inform the community about important university dates and deadlines.

Content:

Admission, registration, financial aid and other important university dates and deadlines; university holidays and breaks; major USF-sponsored events that are open to the public, such as commencement, homecoming, open lectures, arts performances and athletic events; USF BOT meetings and search committee meetings, which are open to the public and required by law to be posted; infrastructure maintenance information from Facilities Planning, Parking & Transportation Services and Information Technology.

Submission Guidelines:

Anyone can submit an event to the calendar. However, no event will post to the calendar without content manager approval. The content manager reserves the right to deny any event posting at any time for any reason.

Please note: Content must be submitted at least three business days before you want the content to display on the calendar.

USF FACEBOOK PAGE

Audience:

The USF Facebook audience includes current USF students, alumni, prospective students, faculty, staff, parents of USF students and fans of the university.

Purpose:

The USF Facebook page allows the Office of University Communications and Marketing to share articles, photos, and videos that tell the USF story to a global and diverse audience.

Content:

USF news stories and videos; campus-wide events and traditions; prestigious awards and honors; important deadlines; university initiatives; athletic victories; and school-spirit items.

Submission Guidelines:

To suggest content for the USF Facebook Page, email Stephanie Harff.


USF FOURSQUARE PAGE

Audience:

The USF Foursquare audience is primarily current USF students, but also includes prospective students, faculty, staff and other campus visitors.

Purpose:

Our Foursquare page encourages students to become an active member of the student body by exploring various venues throughout the university. Through tips and to-do lists, we aim to demonstrate to prospective students that USF and Tampa Bay is an active and exciting community.

Content:

Tips that share historic facts and propose fun activities at a various campus buildings.

Submission Guidelines:

At this time, the Office of University Communications and Marketing does not accept submissions to the USF Foursquare page.


USF LINKEDIN PAGE

Audience:

The USF LinkedIn audience includes business-minded USF students, alumni, faculty, staff and prospective employees.

Purpose:

The USF LinkedIn page is used to promote USF as a desirable place to learn and work.

Content:

USF news stories and videos; prestigious awards and honors; major research projects; academic success; and university initiatives.

Submission Guidelines:

At this time, the Office of University Communications and Marketing does not accept submissions to the USF LinkedIn page.


USF LIFE TUMBLR

Audience:

The majority of the USF Tumblr audience is current and prospective students, but also includes recent alumni.

Purpose:

The USF Tumblr blog showcases campus life and student work through artistic mediums and user-generated content.

Content:

Pictures and videos of student music, dance and theatre performances; campus public art; student-made videos, paintings, drawings, fashion, pictures, writings, food; and other USF-related artwork.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions for the USF Tumblr can be sent through the "Submit" button at the top of the USF Tumblr site.


USF NEWS TWITTER PAGE

Audience:

The USF Twitter audience includes current and prospective students, current and prospective employees, alumni, donors, community leaders, external media outlets and other friends of the university.

Purpose:

The USF Twitter account is used for real-time communication with audience members looking for information about the university.

Content:

USF news stories and videos; events on campus; prestigious awards and honors; important deadlines; university initiatives; athletic victories; and school-spirit items.

Submission Guidelines:

To suggest content for the USF Twitter Page, email Stephanie Harff.


USF CHANNEL ON YOUTUBE

Audience:

The USF YouTube channel audience includes current and prospective students, current and prospective faculty and staff, alumni, donors, community leaders, external media outlets, and other friends of the university.

Purpose:

YouTube is a vehicle for the University Communications and Marketing Office to further brand awareness and tell the USF story.

Content:

University television spots; USF News stories; videos produced by other USF colleges and divisions and approved by University Communications and Marketing.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit videos for the USF Channel on YouTube, your video must be:

  • No larger than 2GB.
  • No more than 10 minutes in length.
  • Saved in an acceptable format. (Click here for details.)
  • Approved by the USF Office of Communications and Marketing.
  • To submit your video for consideration, email Peter Howard.

LEE ROY COLLINS BLVD DIGITAL SIGN

Audience:

USF Tampa campus students, faculty and staff.

Purpose:

To promote major Tampa campus events that are free and open to the public.

Content:

Major Tampa campus events that are free and open to the public. The sign will NOT be used for promoting invitation-only events, non-public events, welcome messages, directional signs, or awards and accolades, unless specified by the president or the provost.

Submission Guidelines:

At this time, the Office of University Communications and Marketing does not accept submissions for the Lee Roy Collins Blvd. digital sign.
